25 years Union Activism

Health and Safety - formerly held the positions of National Union Health and Safety Coordinator, Member of Advisory Council Railway Safety (Transport Canada), Joint Policy H/S Committee Union Co-Chairperson and developed the Regional Health and Safety Committee.

Executive Committee - 15 years’ experience including respective terms as Recording Secretary and Vice President and including 9 years as Chief Steward.

Chief Steward - effective in communicating with our Members, educating new Union Stewards, including all current Unit Chairs; resolved over 700 grievances, including returning dozens of dismissed employees back to work; extensive experience in grievance procedure, joint conferences, arbitrations and collective bargaining

Experience

Educator - developed and instructed the first Union Steward Training Manual and Course; vast education in Union training including WSIB, H&S, Human Rights, Leadership and Queen’s University Negotiation course

Communicator – continue to make communication and transparency with the Members a priority by continuing to utilize the social media page and holding regular union meetings (both in person and online)

Leader - continue to recruit new leaders from the grassroots and ensure that they are trained within the first year of this upcoming term.

My Union experience gives me a unique perspective towards the needs of our Members. I clearly understand how decisions made today can affect us in the future. The experience and passion that I have will ensure that our Region continues to have a strong voice at the Executive and Bargaining table so the issues and concerns that specifically affect our Region can be heard and dealt with.

I understand that this is your Union. It is from your hard earned money we pay the wages of full time Union Representatives.
